Description

The raindrops continue to fall on my head This graphite pencil drawing 'Clingendael – 31-03-23' follows my previous one from Delft. For no particular reason, I wanted to draw some nature again. Or is it that I desire nature in flowers in the spring? While in the Po Valley, in Italy and Spain, people cry for rain, we have it in abundance here. It rains buckets in March and this eternal wind. Blah! Yet, March and April in the Netherlands are famous for their unpredictability. For the moment, I am drawing indoors and drawing from the pile of photos from last year. Lambs at Clingendael There is that specific place near the entrance of the estate 'Clingendael' where they keep farm animals. In addition to horses and cows, you can also find sheep there. I have never been a fan of depicting little lambs, little ponies, and golden retrievers, dear. The place that marked this drawing was however special. The photo dates from last May and the sun filtered through the leaves of the trees. Suddenly, a little lamb was caught by the light, about to drink from the spring. Just a lucky shot with the camera I think, which is useful in rainy weather like this. The moral of the story is this. A subject is never too cheesy as long as it is lit beautifully. This is not the first time I have thought of this, I have done themes only on animals in the past. Homage to a dying horse - 02-03-18 (sold), Marlot - 24-09-20 and Clingendael - 25-04-19 are clear examples. The last one represents a lamb in the same pasture on the other side. I prefer this one however. Certainly the light is the reason. It almost drips a religious theme. By the way, what do you think? Too cheesy or do you want something else? Presentation

Corné Akkers was born in 1969 in Nijmegen, Netherlands. He grew up in a Bohemian environment, during the 70's. This ideal creative atmosphere inspired him and gave him the desire to paint. He trained in painting and drawing.

In his paintings, the artist explores the nude and portrait with several types of analysis and treatments, and doesn't lose sight on how light plays an important role. He combines the figurative style and the quest for abstraction, he plays around with colors and creates vast optical illusions. Not only is his work unique, his paintings shout out cubism but also surrealism and fauvism. They are so hypnotic that they are able to capture the look.

While working as a painter, Akkers also teach art at Voorburg in Netherlands. His paintings have been exhibited several times and sold to art collectors, all around the world.
