This powerful and provocative artwork presents a bold juxtaposition of two photographs depicting a woman in similar postures but revealing contrasting aspects of her individuality. On the left, she appears wearing a black tailored jacket with a strict and elegant design, accentuating a confident and irresistible posture. This choice of clothing confronts us with an image of modernity and sophistication, perhaps symbolizing the social mask and public identity that one displays in professional or social settings. On the right, the same woman is shown in a radically different light: she is stripped of her formal clothing and displays elaborately tattooed skin. The intricate designs of the tattoos cover her torso and arms, becoming a second skin. This visual aspect is not only an homage to body art, but also a revelation of vulnerability, boldness, and self-expression. The tattoos, through their symbolism and aesthetics, offer a striking contrast to the sober and formal attire of the first image, emphasizing the inner identity hidden beneath the outer surface. The unifying and absorbing black background of both photographs serves to magnify the central subject and to focus attention exclusively on the elements of contrast and resemblance between the two representations of the woman. This use of black also serves to emphasize the timelessness, elegance and depth of the themes explored by the artist. This creation, through its duality and visual richness, invites the viewer to a profound reflection on the duality of human identity, the cohabitation of social appearances and personal truths, and the courage to show oneself in all its complexity and diversity.

This seller rewards your purchases of multiple artworks
She is a 40-year old French artist who has built a feminine and original universe. She has always been passionate about photography. The artist she looks up to most is Helmut Newton, but she also draws inspiration from the work of Barbara Kruger, Richard Avedon, Mel Ramos and Russel James. Cécile starts a career in finance though, and she has very little time left for photography. It is when she moves to Brussels that she decides to dedicate to her passion. She has been working with light since three years, when she joined the Contraste agency. During her numerous trips, she studies nuances: the morning light in Senegal or by the Mediterranean, midday light in Miami or in Madagascar? but also the lights of Broadway at night. Inspired by her women friends and the desire to make fun of frivolous things, she creates a Barbie series. Barbie is to her a heroine that embodies the image of our time, today more than ever. It?s a journey in our imagination, but just a little bit offbeat?
