Description

Back on track This graphite drawing 'Nina – 05-09-23' brings me back on track to study this magnificent and intriguing model. For those who don't want to miss it, you can visit his profile on deviantart under the name 'Ninaerotique'. Last August 23rd, I made one that rests on a bed. However, my latest drawing 'Neo Deco – 29-08-23' has raised a lot of dust, I must say. 90% of the reviews were positive but there were others who found the female form almost unbalanced. They found her pose, sitting on a very thin chair, too exciting. There were also people who found the left arm particularly missing but I do not agree. I blame these people for a lack of analytical and optical skills. Perhaps for being confused by a simple laziness not to look beyond the length of a nose. This makes everything even more fun for me. Color by Accident? Arguably it is the assertion that there are too many successive graphite executions. It was time to take out my colored pencils from the drawer to change, don't you think? The universe seemed to agree and pushed me in the direction of color. The problem is that, starting with graphite and defining the proportions, suddenly this little spot appeared on my paper. As a drawer, one can start to cry. There is no way to remove it, even with an electric eraser. That is why color helped me. I suppose there are no random accidents. I had the impression that everything was staged. So I tried to listen to what the artistic bird had to whisper in my ear. Jan Veth I already had the cubist force lines so close to these that I began to fill in the planes. First in pinks and apricots. In a later stage, I added blues and greens to counterbalance all the warm things. Alongside that, I also replaced most of the black linear structures with colors. As time passed, I began to associate my search for subtle color transitions with Jan Veth's work. Last Sunday was the last day his works were exhibited at the Dordrechts Museum. Not a avant-garde but a true artisan, friend of Breitner, Kloos, van Eeden and Israëls. So there is a little influence that can be shown. Perhaps in the use of muted colors. Closing the gap between realism and cubism even more. Presentation

Corné Akkers was born in 1969 in Nijmegen, Netherlands. He grew up in a Bohemian environment, during the 70's. This ideal creative atmosphere inspired him and gave him the desire to paint. He trained in painting and drawing.

In his paintings, the artist explores the nude and portrait with several types of analysis and treatments, and doesn't lose sight on how light plays an important role. He combines the figurative style and the quest for abstraction, he plays around with colors and creates vast optical illusions. Not only is his work unique, his paintings shout out cubism but also surrealism and fauvism. They are so hypnotic that they are able to capture the look.

While working as a painter, Akkers also teach art at Voorburg in Netherlands. His paintings have been exhibited several times and sold to art collectors, all around the world.
