Description

Original contemporary female portrait in acrylic on paper by French artist Natalya Mougenot.

"The Feminine Force" is an original contemporary female portrait by French artist Natalya Mougenot, painted in expressive acrylic on heavyweight professional acid-free paper, measuring 29.7 × 42 cm (11.69 × 16.54 in). Part of her ongoing Women series, this powerful artwork explores femininity, resilience, determination, and the inner strength that allows every woman to keep moving forward.

The woman's eyes are closed, her expression calm yet powerful. Her face is divided into contrasting fields of pink, peach, and golden yellow, creating a striking balance between softness and intensity. Deep blue surrounds her hair, while vivid red dominates her shoulders and earrings, giving the composition a sense of energy and confidence. Bold, visible brushstrokes reveal the artist's expressive approach to colour and form.

There is a quiet strength in this woman. She does not need to look directly at the viewer to make her presence felt. Her closed eyes suggest a moment of inner focus, as if she is gathering her energy, listening to herself, and preparing to move forward. The large red earrings and strong red shoulders reinforce the impression of a woman who knows her own worth.

The feminine force within every woman
Women are a central subject in Natalya Mougenot's artistic practice. Through her Women series, she explores the many dimensions of the feminine experience: vulnerability, tenderness, identity, resilience, and the courage to remain true to oneself.

For Mougenot, a female portrait is never only about physical appearance. It is a way to reveal something that cannot always be seen—a woman's inner world, her emotions, her personal history, and the strength she carries within her.

The Feminine Force is rooted in the belief that every woman possesses an inner piece of herself that refuses to give up. Life can bring uncertainty, disappointment, change, and difficult moments. Yet somewhere within, there is often a quiet determination to continue, to rebuild, to grow, and to move forward.

This force does not always appear as confidence or visible power. Sometimes it is simply the decision to get up in the morning, to begin again, to protect one's dreams, or to choose oneself. It can be gentle and persistent, rather than loud. It is the part of a woman that keeps believing in life, even when the path is not easy.

In this painting, the woman's closed eyes invite the viewer to imagine that inner moment of strength. She is not performing for anyone. She is connected to herself. Her power comes from within.

Colour as emotional language
Colour is at the heart of Natalya Mougenot's artistic language. In The Feminine Force, pink and peach introduce tenderness and sensitivity, while golden yellow brings warmth and vitality. The deep blue creates a sense of depth and introspection, and the vivid red expresses passion, courage, and determination.

The contrast between these colours reflects the complexity of femininity itself: softness can coexist with strength, vulnerability with resilience, and tenderness with an unwavering will to move forward.

Influenced by the expressive brushwork of Vincent van Gogh, the structural sensitivity of Paul Cézanne, and the bold chromatic freedom of Henri Matisse, Mougenot develops her own contemporary figurative style. Her paintings are rooted in authenticity, emotional honesty, and the belief that colour can communicate what words cannot.

For art lovers and collectors
The Feminine Force will appeal to art lovers and collectors drawn to contemporary figurative painting, expressive female portraiture, and artworks celebrating feminine identity, resilience, and inner strength. Its vibrant palette and powerful presence make it a striking addition to modern, eclectic, artistic, and mid-century modern interiors.

Displayed in a living room, bedroom, creative studio, or curated gallery wall, the painting brings warmth, personality, and a sense of emotional empowerment. It is an invitation to remember that, within every woman, there is a force that can carry her forward.

Presentation

Natalya is a contemporary  french artist living in Lyon.

She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes.

She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country.

She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now.

In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism,  which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult.

As an artist and as a woman  she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion,  is the pillar for the inner adult.

Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference.

She works  rapidly  and is constantly sensitive  to the details.

Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach.
