The portrait "Sakura" opens the narrative arc of the exhibition's first act—. It serves as a visual prologue embodying aesthetic innocence, harmony, and the canonical perfection of traditional Eastern forms before urban violence and deconstruction fracture the narrative.

The artist's original haiku acts as the tuning fork for the piece, setting the tempo of awakening and delicate purity:
Composition and Palette
Tondo and Ornamental Medallion: The focal point is a circular portrait () finished with a scalloped edge reminiscent of an antique cameo or a vintage collector's stamp. The painterly rendering of the face is built upon nuanced half-tones: porcelain skin touched by subtle rosy flushes, an elegant neck contour, an arresting direct gaze, and vivid crimson lips.
Traditional Collage Ground: Framing the medallion is a rich, textured ground in warm coral and pomegranate hues. Ascending white herons (), stylized cloud patterns, and blossoming branches evoke an idyllic natural realm, traditionally symbolic of longevity, nobility, and vernal renewal.
Deep Shadow-Box Frame: The artwork is housed within a deep, custom shadow-box frame in an intense turquoise blue. The tension between the fiery crimson ground and the cool enclosure enhances the luminosity of the portrait, endowing the piece with the presence of a precious reliquary.
Place Within the Conceptual Dramaturgy
In the overarching architecture of the exhibition, "Sakura" personifies the "Façade" (Appearance) stage: the deceptively peaceful allure of an immaculate mask. Yet the painter subtly embeds an early forewarning of the impending descent:
Just to the right of the figure's face, shimmering faintly against the pale ground of the tondo, appears the ghostly typography "THE GARDEN OF DELIGHTS"—a direct conceptual bridge to Act II (), where this serene idyll dissolves into the dark alleyways of Hanazono.
The portrait lingers on the fragile threshold between the vibrant breath of morning and the static stillness of a muse, foreshadowing the subsequent stage of the series: the female form encapsulated beneath epoxy resin, frozen as an unattainable, silenced ideal.
Presentation
Eugenio Montoro Aybar (born 1974 in Granada, Spain, where he currently resides and works) is a distinguished visual artist, researcher, and educator holding a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Granada, specializing in pictorial techniques and artistic procedures. Throughout his established career, he has combined rigorous academic research and fine art painting with the direction of monumental mural projects and heritage conservation initiatives on both national and international stages.
Among his prominent monumental achievements is the direction and coordination of the mural and decorative paintings for the full-scale replica of the Alhambra of Granada at the Al-Yamamah Royal Palace in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), commissioned by King Fahd bin Abdulaziz. In Spain, he has led prestigious ecclesiastical restorations, including the monumental high altars of the Basilica of Saint Michael the Archangel and the Basilica of Saint Andrew in Granada, as well as the mural decorations of the Basilica of Lillo in Toledo.
