Description
In the dramaturgical structure of the exhibition, the portrait "Hiroyoshi" marks a pivotal turning point: here, the contemplative tranquility of the untroubled "Façade" () draws to a close, making way for the second stage of Act I: "Encapsulated Beauty and Entrapment" (The Resin). It represents the precise threshold where traditional canonical harmony undergoes deconstruction, and suspended aesthetic perfection confronts the abrasive weight of urban and media-driven realities.
Poetic Leitmotif
The artist's original haiku serves as the compositional tuning fork, registering optical distortion, numbness, and the drowning of the countenance beneath layers of archival sediment:
Conceptual and Stylistic Hallmarks
Optical Shift and Torpor ("Fish-eye"): The metaphor of the signals an altered perspective: it evokes both the voyeuristic surveillance lens that commodifies the subject, and the glassy, unblinking eye of a fish ensnared or fossilized in resin. The figure exists simultaneously as a watched subject and as a frozen trophy of scrutiny.
Textual Substrate and Fragmentation ("Face Among Weathered Letters"): Idyllic grounds filled with herons and blossoms are replaced by complex layered collages: aged paper, vintage typographic impressions, manga snippets, and calligraphic fragments. Hiroyoshi's features are fused into this textual field, through which the latent undertones of vulnerability, hypersexualization, and looming violence begin to surface.
The Metaphor of Epoxy Resin: The central material vehicle of this phase is a thick, crystalline sheet of epoxy resin poured across the collage and portrait. Within Montoro Aybar's visual lexicon, this industrial gloss serves as an ambivalent trap: it preserves immaculate beauty against time, yet suffocates it, leaving the figure a prisoner of their own pristine perfection before the street's violence takes hold.

The End of Innocence: While the opening portraits existed in symbiotic balance with organic motifs, "Hiroyoshi" is sealed within an artificial, vitrified casing.
Prologue to the Crime Scene: The weathered texts and printed fragments anticipate the visual casefiles of Act III (), while the claustrophobic atmosphere directly primes the viewer for the descent into the shadowy backstreets of Hanazono in Act II ().
Presentation
Eugenio Montoro Aybar (born 1974 in Granada, Spain, where he currently resides and works) is a distinguished visual artist, researcher, and educator holding a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Granada, specializing in pictorial techniques and artistic procedures. Throughout his established career, he has combined rigorous academic research and fine art painting with the direction of monumental mural projects and heritage conservation initiatives on both national and international stages.
Among his prominent monumental achievements is the direction and coordination of the mural and decorative paintings for the full-scale replica of the Alhambra of Granada at the Al-Yamamah Royal Palace in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), commissioned by King Fahd bin Abdulaziz. In Spain, he has led prestigious ecclesiastical restorations, including the monumental high altars of the Basilica of Saint Michael the Archangel and the Basilica of Saint Andrew in Granada, as well as the mural decorations of the Basilica of Lillo in Toledo.
