Description
Delta 2015 was created using an experimental process on a homemade wood panel. It will darken with age and was re-photographed in 2025. The painting has dents and cracks caused the rapid drying process. This arresting piece presents a striking interplay of color and texture, playing with the viewer’s perceptions and emotions through its bold and dynamic abstract composition. Dominating the right side of the canvas is a tempestuous swirl of rich, deep magenta, bleeding into softer hues of pink and white. This chaotic burst of color forms an almost storm-like pattern, evoking a sense of movement and energy as it cascades into the center of the piece. The left side of the canvas contrasts sharply with a serene, almost ethereal expanse of cream and beige tones. This area contains subtle variations in shading, with faint marbling effects that add depth and complexity to the otherwise minimalistic section. The juxtaposition between the left and right sides of the artwork creates a compelling dialogue between calm and turbulence, tranquility and intensity. The artist's technique appears deliberate yet fluid, with the colors blending and merging seamlessly while maintaining distinct boundaries. This masterful control of medium suggests a high level of skill and intentionality. The work invites viewers to explore the boundary where the two opposing forces meet, creating a focal point that is both mesmerizing and thought-provoking. Unique in its capacity to elicit a visceral response, this artwork is a testament to the power of abstract art to convey emotion and narrative without the need for representational forms. The bold color palette and dynamic composition command attention and linger in the mind, making it an unforgettable piece that stands out in any collection.
Presentation
My name is Michael R. Grine and I am an process oriented artist. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas.
Statement
Curiosity. Emotion. Experimentation. Exploration. Leap of faith. Pursuit of knowledge. These words only begin to describe what my art signifies or represents. I was born an artist and have always identified myself as an artist. I possess an insatiable creative drive to make art out of the images I see in my mind. To help satisfy this impulse, I am always exploring new places and trying new things. Having freedom of expression and not being limited to one style or technique of making art are paramount to my identity as an artist. I love the many different processes of making art and experimenting with new ways of creating art.
My inspiration stems from color, music, literature, and the excitement about the unknown possibilities of taking everyday objects and using them in a way that differs from what the manufacturer intended. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas. Some of my methods include combining different chemicals and paint on paper or in plastic or wood box frames to distort vivid colors that are mixed or thrown right on the canvas. The result is the distortion of lines and contours, and layers of translucent or opaque paints on the canvas or in random patterns.
