“At first glance, Mathilde Polidori's portraits seem disconcertingly easy. And yet, it is quite the opposite! Let yourself be carried away by his incredible use of shadows and lights, not to mention his relentless use of primary colors. » ARTSPER AND MT ART, November 2021
Born in Lyon in 1987, Mathilde Polidori is a French artist based in Paris. Within the "Blue Workshop", her haven of peace where the hustle and bustle of the capital seems to take a break, only the colors jostle under the painter's watchful eye.
His work is expressed through the use of bright colors and linear black and white lines. Its colorful universe underlines the details of the faces to reveal contrasting emotions.
The faces are deconstructed into tints of color to reveal the depth of a gaze, the complexity of an emotion, the warmth of a ray of sunshine on the skin. The artist draws inspiration from the people around him, from other people he meets at the bend of a street or from archive images gleaned over the years. She constantly observes the light which reveals the complexity of faces and bodies, the strength of an emotion or even the poetry of exchanged glances.
She mainly works in oil paint but also acrylic, markers and India ink sometimes on canvas or on art paper.
In June 2021, she received the 1st prize from the M le Monde Jury for the front page produced for the issue of N° 500 of the emblematic weekly magazine.
In March 2022, Philippe Rey editions choose the work "Regards Croisés" on the cover of the 4th novel by author Sophie Daull, Thus spoke Jules.
