Description

Slender body This graphite drawing of 'Nina – 16-08-23' is the second that I have made of this magnificent model. I drew her portrait a week ago and I felt like making another one. Her slender body offers me a new perspective on the artistic forms I can draw from the female form. For those who missed her links: visit her website or her profile on : 'NinaErotique'. It is as if each model has her own signature motifs. Obviously, this makes every woman unique. This time I saw straight and round shapes combined. Next to these, I represented her nude body on a glass table. I would say, enough challenges to overcome and solutions to find. Tonal issues Unlike 'Neo Deco – 02-08-23' and my last oil painting 'Neo Deco – 10-08-23', there were not many tonal differences to maintain. This has nothing to do with her fair complexion. It is because even people with pale skin can show a full range of values. Everything was a matter of the subdued lighting in the setting. That is where I knew I had to find a dramatic solution in the form of 'solarization' once again. Frankly, I was also curious to see what my solarized concepts would look like on Ingres paper. Until now, I was doing them on Bristol paper only because of the possibilities for soft transitions. Lines of force I realized that I had to erase the planes a lot with an eraser. Otherwise, they would have seemed too fragile. This is what Ingres paper allows and what it can do. Mainly, it is suited to impressionist themes, I think. But well, I never back down from a challenge. I found the solution to impose linear structures and made them thicker and darker. Some might call them 'lines of force'. They reinforce the overall composition I think. They offer a structure and thus guide the viewer through the work. I made sure that her body also flows into the negative space. Otherwise, the positive form of the body would have appeared too separate from the negative space. Not her hair however! I erased the light paper around them and there a kind of halo appeared, enhancing her angelic face. Metallic aspect Overall, the result is a kind of metallic aspect. It reminds me of 'A Metallurgical Approach to Bettie Page – 12-03-17'. Solarization also creates beautiful new forms. That is why this style is also associated with surrealism. I particularly like the luminous patterns similar to snakes on her limbs. Nipple policy Finally and above all, I omitted many details in the background. There was that painting with some abstract shapes. Incorporating them would have been too good. Instead, I placed my monogram and my title there. The reflections of the glass table in the lower part of the drawing prevented me from placing them there anyway. What I did not omit are her nipples. I proclaim: they serve as beacons of sexual freedom. Not even sexuality certainly. They also represent a true aesthetic beauty. Let's think about everything that rejects nudity (artistic) before targeting them online. Do you think carrying a weapon or playing violent video games is a cute thing? That is why you only like safe paintings of dogs, horses, and cats? I await the first hateful comments however. This makes me an artist on a mission with a wink. Wink or honk if you agree. Presentation

Corné Akkers was born in 1969 in Nijmegen, Netherlands. He grew up in a Bohemian environment, during the 70's. This ideal creative atmosphere inspired him and gave him the desire to paint. He trained in painting and drawing.

In his paintings, the artist explores the nude and portrait with several types of analysis and treatments, and doesn't lose sight on how light plays an important role. He combines the figurative style and the quest for abstraction, he plays around with colors and creates vast optical illusions. Not only is his work unique, his paintings shout out cubism but also surrealism and fauvism. They are so hypnotic that they are able to capture the look.

While working as a painter, Akkers also teach art at Voorburg in Netherlands. His paintings have been exhibited several times and sold to art collectors, all around the world.
