Description
A formal introduction for this graphite drawing 'Neo Deco' – 08-06-23' I used the same model as for the previous one. It is time to present her to you. Online she listens to the illusory name honey_kiss_rus. You can discover her by putting an @ in front of this name. This is her Instagram username or you can visit her page. As mentioned previously, she is a slim and sensual model. Her body shapes inspire me to find new shapes. Every female form has its unique shapes. In which I can find many new sub-forms when I put my mind to it. Her slimness offers me a new perspective on the formalist aspects that all artists must face and possibly master. Disassociating an association. In fact, creating a narrative is much easier than learning everything about the form. This is because it is difficult to negate an association with what it represents, namely a female body. Seeing the true nature of what you are looking at is more difficult than inventing a narrative. It is just a matter of associating the association with something else. Therefore, I want to master both the creation of narratives and the formalist side of things. Too abstract this story to tickle your imagination? Take these shapes I found on the front of her body and especially her chest. I found a beautiful range of triangles, circular patterns, and square boxes. When you squint your eyes, all these shapes merge with the association with a nude woman. That is where I concentrate. The Cubist Approach Having said that, my initial plan was to make an impressionist drawing. In the reference photo, the lighting was striking, visible as a razor light coming from the right. In defining the proportions, I decided to take another turn however. I quickly realized that the proportions of her body would not fill well on the larger paper. This would simply give me too much negative space that I could only make very dark. Hence the cubist approach. I think it is a perfect synthesis of my previous style roundism, cubism, and art deco. The shapes extrapolated in this negative space serve as a backdrop to support more subtle shapes in the main theme. Presentation
Corné Akkers was born in 1969 in Nijmegen, Netherlands. He grew up in a Bohemian environment, during the 70's. This ideal creative atmosphere inspired him and gave him the desire to paint. He trained in painting and drawing.
In his paintings, the artist explores the nude and portrait with several types of analysis and treatments, and doesn't lose sight on how light plays an important role. He combines the figurative style and the quest for abstraction, he plays around with colors and creates vast optical illusions. Not only is his work unique, his paintings shout out cubism but also surrealism and fauvism. They are so hypnotic that they are able to capture the look.
While working as a painter, Akkers also teach art at Voorburg in Netherlands. His paintings have been exhibited several times and sold to art collectors, all around the world.
