Description

Pastel Encore Ce pastel 'Golden – 13-12-23' suits directly my latest oil painting 'Cosmic Dance – 10-12-23'. The last time I did a pastel 'Melina Nouvelle – 17-09-22' was a long time ago. It was just a sketch. Lately, I like to do more oil paintings because I think they are considerably behind compared to graphite drawings. In addition, there are so many drawings waiting to be converted into oil paintings. But what about pastels? There are works I have done in the three executions like my Singularity series. In fact, I just had the right piece in mind and it was 'Roundism – 22-03-17'. Personally, I think this could also transform well into cubist oil in the near future. The Golden series naturally fits into the Golden series that I started three years ago. I must admit that it turned out not to be the most popular series. I am nevertheless happy. The series revolves around the representation of the complexions of women of color. I became interested in the colors they wear and the complex relationships between these colors. This may also be caused by my regular model who is of Indian descent. There are so many varieties of colors ranging from orange, yellow, and pink to blue, violet, and even green. I had these things in mind from the beginning. Neither Realistic nor Abstract You see, transferring the drawing is easy because the concept and the abstract shapes are already there. In the past and also now, I see the biggest problem being to choose the right color scheme. However, this does not necessarily correspond to the possibilities of monochrome forms. Therefore, I had to adjust them a little so that the colors represent the bodily features in an appropriate way. I even understood this very quickly. The most difficult part however was to make both the realistic aspect and the level of abstraction plausible. Almost at the end, I found that the representation had become too realistic. Therefore, I imposed the circular blue lines so that people appreciate both aspects. I hope they will. You? Presentation

Corné Akkers was born in 1969 in Nijmegen, Netherlands. He grew up in a Bohemian environment, during the 70's. This ideal creative atmosphere inspired him and gave him the desire to paint. He trained in painting and drawing.

In his paintings, the artist explores the nude and portrait with several types of analysis and treatments, and doesn't lose sight on how light plays an important role. He combines the figurative style and the quest for abstraction, he plays around with colors and creates vast optical illusions. Not only is his work unique, his paintings shout out cubism but also surrealism and fauvism. They are so hypnotic that they are able to capture the look.

While working as a painter, Akkers also teach art at Voorburg in Netherlands. His paintings have been exhibited several times and sold to art collectors, all around the world.
