Description
This abstract composition plays on a marked chromatic contrast. A central mass of anthracite gray dominates the space. It seems to float within an ochre and yellow halo. The work on the material brings a tactile depth. The artist superimposes acrylic and India ink on a paper support. Touches of chalk come to highlight the contours and lighten certain areas.
The center of the canvas reveals transparencies and impasto. These variations create a subtle play of shadows and light. The structure recalls geological or organic forms. The balance between earthy tones and the rigor of gray establishes a serene atmosphere.
The execution testifies to a search for density and superposition. The irregular edges of the central block accentuate the raw aspect of the composition. This work dates from 193.
