Description
The image is structured around a central ochre block. This mass dominates the composition. It seems to float on a dark and deep background.
The work relies on a play of textures. The artist superimposes acrylic and India ink. The paper welcomes these successive layers.
Shades of yellow and orange stretch towards the top. This luminous transition creates a visual ascent. The contrast with the basal black reinforces the clarity of the center.
The gesture is precise. Vertical brushstrokes structure the surface. Transparency effects bring relief to the whole.
The eye circulates between the density of the block and the lightness of the edges. This abstract piece plays on the balance of masses.
The work dates from 1987. It skillfully combines rigor and spontaneity. The signature appears discreetly in the bottom right.
