Description
Abstraction is expressed here through a subtle dialogue between rigor and lightness. The eye stops on an acid yellow background, almost grainy, which brings a constant luminosity. In the center, an ochre rectangle asserts itself. Its presence structures the composition. Fine white and black lines come to segment the space. They evoke architectural plans or distant horizons.
The chalk work on paper creates nuanced textures. The contrast between the precision of the line and the blur of the dark areas brings a singular depth. The balance of masses leads to a contemplative serenity. This piece plays on the superposition of layers and the transparency of the tones. It testifies to a plastic search where geometry meets matter. The whole is stabilized by a vertical line that anchors the composition in the bottom of the support. The work is signed and dated 193.
