Description
A rigorous abstract composition. The shapes are cut out with precision. A central brown block asserts itself, like a vertical axis. It is framed by sun-yellow areas.
The execution mixes several materials. Acrylic is combined with India ink and chalk on paper. This mixture creates varied textures. Fine, almost architectural lines come to rhythm the surface.
The eye follows geometric tracings. Discreet hatching suggests an invisible structure. The balance rests on the contrast between the density of brown and the luminosity of yellow. The rendering evokes an imaginary map. This painting dates from 193.
