Description
This abstract composition explores an intense dialogue between light and shadow. The blue unfolds in filaments and projections, creating an organic network on a dark background. The acrylic stretches in vertical streaks. It evokes a night rain or a cellular structure seen under a microscope.
The work on paper uses mixed techniques to vary the textures. The deep black absorbs the gaze while the blue splatters bring a luminous breath. The balance of contrasts guides the eye through an undefined space.
The quick and instinctive execution reveals the artist's gesture. Each dot and each line emphasizes a controlled tension. The whole exudes a mysterious atmosphere. Presentation
Jean-Claude Coutaz was born in 1944 in Saint-Maurice VS. He began his studies at the Collège de Saint-Maurice following the classical Latin-English track, continued them at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (EPFL) from which he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering.
It was in 1972 that he settled in Sion with his wife and opened his own engineering office.
JCC began painting in 1980 and since then his technique has continued to evolve.
