Description
Abstraction seizes an architectural structure here. The composition is organized around a vertical line of acid green. This line divides the space into two distinct zones. Areas of deep brown and black saturate the center. Touches of ochre and terracotta bring contrasting warmth.
The technique is rich. The artist superimposes acrylic, India ink, and chalk. These materials create varied textures on the paper. The gesture is precise. Straight lines oppose the more diffuse areas. A play of transparencies and superimpositions is discernible.
The eye circulates between the dark color blocks and the luminous flashes. The base of the canvas lightens with shades of white and pale pink. The whole evokes a stylized urban landscape or a fragmented view. This work dates from 194. The final rendering emphasizes a rigorous mastery of abstract geometry.
