Description
This geometric composition plays on the rigor of lines and the strength of contrasts. A central vertical axis structures the space, dividing the canvas with an almost architectural precision. Red dominates the heart of the image, stretching into a dense and deep column.
The neutral gray background brings visual balance. It highlights the central intersection where two red triangles face each other, creating a focal point of tension. An oblique line crosses the lower right part, breaking the verticality to infuse a subtle movement into the whole.
The artist uses oil on canvas to achieve sharp blocks of color and controlled transitions. Each shape interlocks with exactness, recalling a search for balance between order and color. The light seems to emanate from the center, where the orange and red hues meet. This painting from 1991 testifies to an abstract approach where geometry becomes a language. The signature JCC adds a discreet final touch in the lower right corner.
